Moisture Control And Crawl Space Encapsulation

Location: Summerville, SC 29406

Problem: The mold growth issue for this customer was pretty severe. She was extremely hypersensitive and had severe allergy symptoms. She was so hypersensitive that when someone in the neighborhood was burning debris she could smell the smoky smell coming in through the vents into the crawl space that would enter the house through the floor.

Upon arrival we found the crawl space to be in pretty poor condition. There was mold on the floor joists and sub-floor throughout the crawl space. There was no insulation and the vapor barrier was tattered and ineffective. They also had an addition to the house that recently flooded during Hurricane Matthew. Since it was a Category 3 black water intrusion during the hurricane all of the carpet and pad should have been removed and disposed of. It was not removed allowing odor causing bacteria to grow and affect the homeowners. Water damage removal, crawl space encapsulation, and mold removal had to be performed.

Solution: We began by removing the old crawl space vapor barrier and any other debris from the crawl space. All of the wood structure was then HEPA vacuumed and treated with an anti-microbial product. All foundation vents were insulated and sealed and a 12 mil AdvantaSeal Encapsulation System was installed on the walls, piers and crawlspace floor which sealed the crawl space. A dehumidifier and condensate pump were installed completing the encapsulation. The carpet and pad in the addition was removed and the concrete underneath was treated with an anti-microbial solution. We then completed a 1 system air duct cleaning consisting of a detailed cleaning of all registers and boots, cleaned the branch lines and trunk lines of the duct work, and then fogged the system with an anti-microbial product.

The customer was extremely happy with the work performed and the professionalism of the crew. A few days after the job was complete the customer informed us that her allergy symptoms were getting better, they could no longer smell the smoke when the neighbors burned, and they were having to run the heat less often because the house was warmer and holding heat better. The customer gave a 5 star review on Google.

Additionally, the metal ducts were in need of an air duct cleaning.

Location: Mt. Pleasant, SC 29466

Problem: This customer just recently moved to the area and had all of their belongings stored and shipped in shipping containers that were not sealed and had several leaks.
