OK, so you think you might have found mold. What now?
Well – depending on your needs, you might want to take swab samples or air-o-cell tests, which are both analyzed by independent testing laboratories.
Swab samples can be useful in the identification of specific types of mold. Mold spores are captured and introduced into a medium in which cultures can be grown and subsequently analyzed. Results are typically available in 48 hours, and you should be provided with a full report that is reviewed with you.
The Air-O-Cell test identifies mold, giving a measurable count of spore activity. One sample will be taken outside to gather a baseline of spores present outdoors at the time of testing. At least one sample should be taken inside to determine if the spore count is higher in the indoor environment versus outdoors. Results are typically available in 48 hours, and again – you should be provided with a full report that is reviewed with you.
